Rich Peverley will be out 4-6 weeks due to a sprained right knee ligament, the Boston Bruins announced Friday.

The forward sustained a third-degree sprain of his medial collateral ligament Wednesday, general manager Peter Chiarelli told reporters.

Peverley was hurt in the third period against the Montreal Canadiens, on a leg check by Hal Gill.

The hit did not draw any action from the league and, after the game, Bruins coach Claude Julien did not offer specifics as to his thoughts on whether the hit was clean.

"It doesn't matter," Julien told reporters. "Whether I like it or don't like it, whatever. I don't make the decisions. I'm done with commenting on the stuff, because it's not worth it."

To replace Peverley on the roster, the Bruins called up Josh Hennessey from AHL affiliate Providence on Thursday.

Peverley had 38 points, with 29 coming on assists.
