Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin's front office has grown by one, and it's another familiar face: his former St. Louis teammate Scott Mellanby has been appointed director of player personnel.

Mellanby stepped down from his job as a Blues assistant coach earlier this month, leading to speculation he would be joining his old friend - and fellow Montreal native - Bergevin, who hired long-time mentor Rick Dudley last week to be an assistant GM.

The former Flyers, Panthers, Blues and Thrashers standout played 21 NHL seasons, and worked as both an adviser to the GM and as a scout for the Vancouver Canucks before moving on the Blues.

Here's the team's official press release.
