Dillon Heatherington scored from the blue line at 2:36 of overtime to give a Columbus Blue Jackets split squad a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues in an exhibition game Sunday night.

Boone Jenner had a goal and an assist, Kerby Rychel and Alexander Wennberg also scored and Dalton Prout added two assists for Columbus. Also Sunday, a Blue Jackets split squad beat Carolina 4-3 in North Carolina.

Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and an assist for the Blues in their preseason opener. Jori Lehtera and Sebastian Wannstrom also scored and Thomas Vannelli had two assists.

Curtis McElhinney played the first two periods for the Blue Jackets, stopping 23 of 24 shots. The Blues rallied to tie it in the third, scoring twice against Oscar Dansk. Tarasenko handcuffed Dansk with a snap shot 40 seconds in, and Wannstrom tied it 9 minutes later.

Dansk finished with 14 saves.

St. Louis starter Jake Allen allowed three goals on 11 shots in two periods. Matt Clime made nine saves in the third period and overtime.
