Jim Rutledge

Jim Rutledge is headed back to the Champions Tour in 2014. The Victoria, B.C. golfer carded a final round 65 Friday to finish tied for second at the Tour's qualifying school at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.

Rutledge had seven birdies in the final round to finish five back of Wes Short Jr., who captured medalist honours with his fourth straight round in the 60s.

It's the third straight year Rutledge has managed to retain his Tour card via the q-school process.

Only the top five are guaranteed full-time status on the Tour in 2014 while the next seven players earned conditional status.

Rutledge will be joined on the Tour next year by Rod Spittle of Niagara Falls, Ont. who finished 31st on the money list but elected to skip q-school. Spittle's conditional status should get him into enough events next year.

Ken Tarling (T63) of Sanford, Ont. and Marc Girouard (65th) of Saint-Sauveur, Que. failed to finish inside the top 30 which would have given them access to the open qualifiers for all Champions Tour events next year.
