SooBin Kim

SooBin Kim of Coquitlam, B.C. was the only Canadian to secure full status on the LPGA Tour next year after carding a final round 75 Sunday to finish in a tie for 11th at q-school.

A senior at the University of Washington, Kim had indicated over the weekend that she would forfeit the remainder of her final year at college in order to turn pro and play on the LPGA Tour.

Kim finished at 5-under par, five strokes behind co-medalists Alison Lee, another amateur, and former world amateur No. 1 Minjee Lee.

Kim leaves behind a great collegiate career at Washington, tied for the most wins by a Huskie with four, the all-time leader in scoring average and the No. 1 ranked collegiate player following the 2014 fall season.

Only the top 20 secured full status for 2015 and a playoff was needed between seven players for three spots. Julie Yang, Garrett Phillips, Jacqui Concolino, Laetitia Beck, Stephanie Meadow, Karlin Beck and Casey Grice all finished the final round at 4-under par. Following a three hole aggregate playoff, Yang and Concolino were eliminated with everyone else going on to sudden death. Both Laetitia Beck and Phillips birdied the 10th hole to secure a full time card while the remaining three - Karlin Beck, Meadow and Grice - played two more sudden death holes for one spot without deciding anything before darkness became a factor.

The trio returned to the Hills Course early Monday morning to determine the 20th and final spot, playing four more holes before Grice dropped out with a bogey. Beck and Meadow then went to the 11th playoff hole where Beck made birdie to capture the final full time spot.

Among the other notables who earned their card on Sunday was Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods. She carded a final round 70 to finish in a tie for 11th.

Ha Na Jang, the leader going in to the final round, shot a final round 80 that included six bogeys and a triple bogey. However, she had built up a big enough lead going into the final round that, even with the big number, she managed to finish inside the top 10 in a tie for sixth.

Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Toronto secured conditional status after finishing in a tie for 28th. She had four bogeys and three birdies on her way to a round of 1-over 73, missing the top 20 by just two strokes.

Samantha Richdale (T58) of Kelowna, B.C. and Maude-Aimiee Leblanc (T64) of Sherbrooke, Que. failed to finish inside the top 45 to earn conditional status and will be headed back to the Symetra Tour next year.
