Adam Hadwin, David Hearn make gains in Canada’s Weekly Top 10

Adam Hadwin and David Hearn have had solid starts to their 2014-15 PGA Tour seasons. Hadwin, competing in his rookie season, moved up nine spots in the world rankings after shooting a final round 63 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. That enabled him to climb 43 places up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 10th – his third career top-10 result in a PGA event. Hearn also picked up nine spots in the world rankings to No. 108 after finishing in a tie for seventh in Las Vegas.

Corey Conners remained the No. 1 ranked amateur in Canada, climbing four spots into the top 20 in the world to sit at No. 19. It's the second time this year the Kent State graduate has broken into the top 20, climbing as high as No. 18 back in Week 11.

Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C. moved up to No. 2 in the Canadian rankings, taking over the place vacated by Taylor Pendrith, who has been dropped from the amateur rankings following his decision to turn pro.

There was some big movement outside the top 10 as Tony Gil climbed 128 spots, going from No. 20 to No. 15 in Canada after finishing tied for 28th at the AJGA PING Invitational.

Brett Hogan moved up 100 spots and up to No. 19 in Canada after finishing in a tie for third at the inaugural Miramont Invitational. The junior out of Calgary birdied four of his first six holes on the final day en route to a season-best 68, ending up two shots shy of his first career win. It's his second top-10 finish of the fall and the second-best result of his UTSA career. For his efforts, he was named Conference USA Player of the Week.

Brian Jung of Coquitlam, B.C. also moved into the top 20, climbing 37 spots after finishing tied for 20th for the Oregon State Beavers at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

Congrats to Mathew Iceton of Whitby, Ont. on his debut in the world amateur golf rankings this week. Last year's Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year won the MEC Championship for Division II West Liberty University. Iceton has a pair of wins and a third place showing in five fall events this year.

On the women's side, Soo-Bin Kim finished in a tie for ninth at the Stanford Intercollegiate. It was her second top-10 result in as many starts this season for the No. 3 ranked amateur female in Canada. Kim played as an individual at the Stanford tournament, her score did not count toward the team total, after back tightness forced her to miss the previous tournament.

At the same tournament, teammate Jennifer Yang picked up eight spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 24th. The senior also posted a tie for third at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite after coming into the final round as the leader.

Elizabeth Tong of Thornhill, Ont. made the biggest move of the week within the top 10, climbing 17 spots and up to No. 8 in Canada after finishing tied for sixth at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. It's the first top-10 finish of the year for the senior at Indiana.

Taylor Kim picked up 13 spots after finishing tied for 17th at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate while Kent State teammate Jennifer Ha moved up three places after an eighth place finish.

Team Canada junior Naomi Ko now finds herself in the top 10 after picking up three places in the world rankings.
