The Calgary Stampeders re-signed non-import receiver Arjei Franklin on Wednesday.

Franklin played nine games in 2011 and recorded six receptions for 68 yards. He was on the nine-game injured list from Weeks 4 through 12 after suffering a rib injury.

"Arjei has proven his value in this league over the past six seasons," Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement. "He has been a great leader among the receiving corps on this team. It's great to have a veteran like Arjei helping our young receivers including Anthony Parker, Johnny Forzani and Landan Talley."

Franklin's best season with the Stampeders came in 2010 when he caught 42 passes for 523 yards and two touchdowns.

The 29-year-old from Toronto started his CFL career in 2006 as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2008, Franklin caught 49 passes for the Bombers and had 566 receiving yards and a touchdown.
