Private equity firm Onex Corp. has named managing director Christopher Govan as its new chief financial officer.

He will replace current CFO Donald Lewtas starting on March 1 next year.

Mr. Govan has been with the firm for 16 years and currently oversees corporate and fund administration as well as taxation.

Onex chief executive Gerry Schwartz said that Mr. Govan will add oversight of the company's finance, treasury, reporting and technology functions to his current responsibilities in a "natural progression" of his career.

"Chris has been a key member of our team for many years… I have full confidence he will be successful in his expanded role," said Mr. Schwartz in a statement.

Mr. Lewtas joined the firm 27 years ago and has been in the CFO seat since early 2008. He will work with Mr. Govan through the transition and will still have other responsibilities at the company.
