Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., maker of Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Sea-Doo personal watercraft and Can-Am all-terrain vehicles, has its first on-road vehicle ready to roll to North American dealers.
The first mass-produced Can-Am Spyder, which resembles a Y-shaped motorcycle with two wheels in front and one in the rear, rolled off the assembly line at BRP's factor in Valcourt, Que., on Friday.
The first Spyder will be delivered to U.S. talk show host Jay Leno, a well-known car and motorcycle enthusiast.
The first units will be delivered to selected dealerships across North America in October and to dealers in international markets in early 2008, the company said.
BRP was spun off as a private company from Bombardier Inc., which originated with the manufacture of snowmobiles but now is the world's third-largest aircraft company and the world's largest maker of rail vehicles.
