Country Classics is the latest phase in a master-planned Aspen Springs community that Kaitlin Group started two decades ago in the west end of Bowmanville.
About a 45-minute drive east of Toronto and north of Highway 401, the project will include freehold townhouses, as well as detached homes inspired by French country architecture, on 36-, 40- and 45-foot lots.
"Their French-country flair gives buyers an elegant and charming place to call home, while having the convenience of being seconds from the 401 and an abundance of services and amenities," Kaitlin Group vice-president Gary Daniell says.
The growing subdivision - where more than 2,000 families now live - contains parks, schools and bicycle paths. Recreation centres, big-box stores and restaurants are close to the site, as are golf courses, Bowmanville's historic downtown and the Waterfront Trail.
Purchasers at Country Classics can chose from three collections, all with three- or four-bedroom houses.
The "Comfort" collection features four townhouse models - ranging from 1,242 to 1,809 square feet - that will be linked only at the garage. Owners will have access to the backyard through the garage via a rear door, creating privacy between the homes.
"We've got ... townhomes that are 24 feet wide," Mr. Daniell says. "Typically, in most communities, they're 20 feet."
The "Country" collection consists of detached two-storey houses and bungalows on 36-foot lots; there are nine floor plans measuring between 1,493 and 2,545 square feet.
There also are nine models in the "Classic" collection of two-storey homes and bungalows, which are on 40- and 45-foot lots, and measure between 1,983 and 3,241 square feet.
For the most part, the homes will have a mix of open and traditional principal rooms, which are situated toward the rear. All houses have nine-foot ceilings, but some plans feature vaulted ceilings in some rooms, or spaces that are open to the second floor.
Open kitchens will include islands, breakfast areas, breakfast bars and pantries. There will be serving halls adjacent to dining rooms, main- or second-floor laundry rooms, and, in some plans, master en suites with tubs, separate shower stalls and twin sinks.
Exteriors will feature clay brick, stone and vinyl siding, with decorative trim, gables and large feature windows, as well as attached one- or two-car garages.
Standard features include gas fireplaces, imported ceramic flooring and 35-ounce broadloom. For a short time, purchasers will receive $10,000 of free upgrades, such as hardwood floors on the main level, granite countertops and five appliances.
