A new opinion poll suggests Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall remains the most popular provincial leader in Canada.

Two-thirds of respondents to the survey said they approved of Wall's performance.

Angus Reid surveyed 800 Saskatchewan residents as part of an online panel between Dec. 4 and 13.

The polling firm says Wall's approval rating is statistically unchanged from similar surveys in September and June.

Wall is reluctant to take credit for the high rating, which he says is partly due to good luck.

The polling industry's professional body, the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association, says online surveys cannot be assigned a margin of error as they are not a random sample, and therefore are not necessarily representative of the whole population.

"So much of this business is time. If you happen to be lucky and get into office at a good time, maybe that's part of the explanation," Wall says.

"There are so many external things, that's all I know."
