A man has been charged with making threats against Winnipeg police officers, the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

The investigation started earlier this month after a tip that members of the Winnipeg Police Service were targeted by a man.

The investigation determined that between December 2013 and September 2014, a man told justice officials that he had intentions to kill Winnipeg police officers.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued and on Oct. 22, a man was arrested by RCMP officers in the Penticton, B.C. area.

He was brought back to Manitoba and processed by the Winnipeg police major crimes unit.

Christopher Jason Pitts, who is 39, is facing numerous intimidation and threat-related charges, as well as breach of parole violations.
