A spokeswoman for Maine's governor says his office is developing legislation to help secure a line of credit for the ferry service between Portland and Yarmouth, N.S.

But Adrienne Bennett, press secretary for Gov. Paul LePage, said Friday the administration isn't ready to discuss further details of the bill, which has yet to be introduced.

The state's legislature convened Dec. 3 and there is a statutory adjournment date of June 17.

The new ferry season is scheduled to start June 1.

Nova Scotia Economic Development Minister Michel Samson said Wednesday that he expects LePage to come through with a $5 million line of credit promised during last year's gubernatorial election campaign.

Samson made the statement while announcing the government was giving up to $13 million more for Nova Star Cruises, which operates the ferry run.

The operator has already received $28.5 million from the province for its inaugural sailing season last year.
