Clap your hands and apologize to your heart for what you're about to do to it, because the KFC Double Down is now on the menu.

The sandwich, which uses two boneless chicken fillets in place of a bun and has two pieces of bacon, two slices of processed pepper jack cheese and sauce in between has been clogging arteries State-side for a while now but was only expected to launch in Canada on Monday.

Several KFC outlets across the country, however, report that while Monday remains the "hard launch" date, they've been doing a "soft launch" since Wednesday.

KFC stores reached in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Halifax all report that the item is now on the menu, meaning you don't need to know the secret handshake or magic word to get your greasy fingers on one.

"We've done a soft launch this week to demonstrate the sandwich to everyone and it's becoming huge," said an employee at one Vancouver KFC.

With every KFC store we contacted in Canada saying that the item is now for sale, it's safe to say it's probably on offer at most - if not all - outlets across the country already.

So if you're looking for a conversation piece over the weekend, head to the Colonel's house and regale your friends this weekend with stories of your eating experience.

Of course, if you're on a "diet" or happen to "respect" your insides, you may want to think twice. The Original Recipe Double Down contains 540 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1, 380 mg of sodium, according to KFC.com.

Then again, you might also want to try making your own. You won't be the only one who's gone for a DIY Double Down.

The sandwich is only expected to be sold in Canada from Oct. 18 to Nov. 14, although it could become a permanent menu item if sales are strong.
