People line-up at the KFC store on Queen St., to be the first to get the "Double Down" made of two pieces of fried chicken, bacon, two slices of processed pepper jack cheese and sauce in between.Fernando Morales/The Globe and Mail

By now, you've heard of the Double Down: a greasy, cheesy, salty, smoky, bacon-loaded KFC sandwich that uses two pieces of fried chicken instead of bread.

In an increasingly health-concious Canadian society, where we're waging war against salt and obesity - KFC's sandwich, with more salt than a grown adult should eat in a day, has struck a nerve with concerned parents and nutritionists alike.

Will you try it? Will you let your kids? Is the new sandwich indicative of a new low in Canadian cuisine, and a warning for our culture of excess - or is it much ado over a harmless sandiwch?

Join the Globe's Wency Leung, Katrina Onstad and Mark Schatzker (who writes, in today's Globe, that the DD is historic and innovative) for a live discussion today at 1 p.m. (ET).
