Cue the 'Blue' frenzy: Beyonce baby arrives (complete with crazy name)

When pop star Beyonce announced her pregnancy back in August, the social media world went bananas, with 8,868 tweets per second, far outpacing other news of the day, such as Steve Jobs’ death.

Now that she’s given birth to a baby in a New York hospital, the frenzy is back.

Like most celebs these days, the couple chose an offbeat name: Blue Ivy or Ivy Blue, depending on the source. Cue the baby name punditry and Twitter dramas.

Apparently, the first tweets from friends and family - the singer and her husband, Jay-Z, are pretty private themselves, allegedly even checking into the hospital under an alias, but those close to them didn't get the memo - got the name wrong in their rush to Tweet their joy.

So Gwyneth Paltrow took to the Twitterverse and explained that the name was actually Blue Ivy, reports PopCrush. The infant’s last name is Carter, which is Jay-Z’s last name.

But, apparently, we’re no longer content with adding a fresh one to the nascent list of weirdest celebrity names of 2012. Instead, we look for hidden codes, reports the site.

Here’s one thread they found:

“Some online pundits said that Ivy Blue spelled backwards is Eulb Yvi, which is the name of Lucifer’s daughter in Latin. That theory was shot down, since the Latin word for daughter is “’fillia.’ PopCrush even entered the words in Google Translator and it came out as “Suspendisse Ivy.” So none of that seems right or holds any weight.

There were no shortage of celebrity tweets, all exclaiming their congratulations. Gwyneth Paltrow said "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already,” and singer Rihanna wrote "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."

Well there may be one detail that limits the chat: The hospital taped up the security cameras, so if Beyonce wasn’t looking her best, none of us will know. (No word on whether Jay-Z was banned from taking iPhone pics.)

What do you think of the name Blue Ivy? And do you long for the day when giving birth stayed private for a few days, at least?
