Lifetime Developments’ latest condominium project in the Entertainment District will appeal to a segment of the market that partakes in the lively club, bar and food scene that thrives late at night.
Yet it will also satisfy a crowd of all ages looking for entertainment by day in trendy fashion outlets, art galleries, film and performing arts centres.
“It’s only one block way from the part of King Street that everyone wants to be on – between Blue Jays Way and John Street where all the restaurants are and Bell Lightbox – so the location sells the site,” says vice-president Brian Brown, whose own family enjoys outings around the site at Adelaide and John streets.
“[Plus]it’s not just a pure residential building. There’s lots that happens both within the building and around the building.”
For instance, below the glass and steel section of the 40-storey tower that will house 383 suites, the podium will contain retail and office space on the first six floors.
“There are two reasons for the name [as]Bond Street – in a lot of other North American locations – is a very high-end, very recognized street,” says Mr. Brown.
The moniker also refers to the volume of local input in the project, from its architectural appearance to a social media-driven ad design contest.
“People that live in the Entertainment District are very actively involved in the neighbourhood, so there is a strong bond and connection between the people that would live in this building and the neighbourhood,” adds Mr. Brown.
In terms of private facilities, The Bond will have recreational attractions on two floors styled by Tomas Pearce Interior Design Consulting. “Their suites are where they sleep and relax, but when they want to entertain and socialize, the amenity spaces are where they spend most of their time,” adds Mr. Brown.
The seventh floor will have a lounge, billiards room, dining area and special events kitchen, as well as a games and golf simulation room and two terraces, including one with lounge seating, a dining table and barbecue station.
On the eighth floor, there will be a fitness centre with weights and cardio equipment, a yoga studio, lounge and juice bar with access to an outdoor pool, hot tub and landscaped terrace.
The floors above will be filled with studios to three-bedroom suites with private balconies and terraces, including a penthouse with more than 3,700 square feet indoors and 1,800 square feet outdoors.
To give the interiors a more spacious feel, many plans will have open concept layouts, nine-foot ceilings, sliding bedroom doors, kitchen facilities set against one wall, study nooks and stacked laundry machines.
Finishes will be upscale, such as pre-engineered wood floors, Tomas Pearce-designed cabinetry, stone or quartz counters, and European-style stainless steel appliances.
Monthly fees will be around 52 cents per square feet, plus hydro. Parking will be an extra $45,000.
Move-in dates are scheduled for fall 2015.
