The Great Jewellery Heist, Toronto

Who says philanthropy is an evening-only endeavour? On Oct. 22, the Great Jewellery Heist in aid of Bridgepoint Active Healthcare, a hospital built around the former Don Jail, started with an 11:30 a.m. sparklingwine reception, followed by a lunch and auction. This year, the annual fundraiser was chaired by Susan Rimmer of CIBC World Markets, anchor Catherine Murray of the Business News Network and Marcia Moffat, founder and principal of Compasar Solutions. Up for grabs during the silent and live bidding were baubles and bling from a range of Canadian jewellers. Guests included Heather Gotlieb, Elaine Kay and skater Tessa Virtue. Globe Style’s Jeanne Beker served as emcee.

At the Art Gallery of Ontario on Nov. 3, philanthropist Emmanuelle Gattuso joined fashion retailers George and Lisa Corbo to host a lunch for BELIEVE IT, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation’s Billion Dollar Challenge. After dining, guests made their way to Walker Court for a runway presentation of the Emanuel Ungaro spring 2015 collection. In attendance were socialites Paddy Anne Burns, Sylvia Mantella, Kelly Rosen and Simona Shnaider. The AGO’s director, Matthew Teitelbaum, was also on hand, as was Paul Alofs, the PMCF’s president and CEO.
