Jack Bush, who was born in Toronto in 1909, was one of the first Canadian artists to achieve international acclaim for his work; his bright, striking pieces marked by colourful striping will be the subject of a major retrospective, starting Nov. 13, at the National Gallery in Ottawa. The Bush show is a highlight of this season’s focus on stripes, which also includes Ronit Furst’s eyewear line in cheerful colour-blocked styles and Shiseido’s new eyeshadow trios that pop with three punchy shades. If these strokes are too bold, CB2’s multicoloured bookcase offers decorative character without overwhelming. Guess there’s something to be said for staying inside the lines.
