The new Globe Investor Portfolio for Globe Unlimited subscribers offers a whole new set of powerful tools to inform your financial decisions.

To set up your Portfolio, start on the 'Portfolios & Tools' page, found here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/portfolio-and-tools/. (Watch a video on how to set up your portfolio here.)

Scroll down to the 'Stocks & Investments' area and click the 'Create New Portfolio' button. Next, choose whether you would like to track cash balances within your portfolio.

Give your portfolio a name and fill in the opening cash balance in Canadian dollars. Choose the open date using the calendar to track your returns from a specific date, going back as far as you like. Click 'Create Portfolio' to save.

Now you're ready to start adding your investments. Click on the name of your portfolio to open it. Then click 'Add Stock or ETF' and start typing the name or symbol of a company or ETF in the box. Auto-suggest will automatically start to predict what you're looking for.

Choose the date you purchased your investment and the price will automatically calculate to the closing price on that day. Alternatively, you can fill in your own share price. Fill in the number of shares and your total buy price will automatically calculate. Click 'Add' and now it's part of your portfolio. Repeat the same process to add as many stocks and ETFs as you'd like.

Next, click 'Add fund' and follow the same process outlined above to add your funds. You can also use the cash area at the bottom of the page to add or withdraw cash by using the dropdown menu. Use the calendar to select your transaction date, enter the amount and click 'Add transaction.'

Your Portfolio should now be displaying your stocks, ETFs, funds and cash, with their current value, gains and losses, and returns over time. To add more investments, simply click on your portfolio name. Use the edit tab to change your Portfolio name or delete it.
